Audition Information for Actors

Thank you for your interest in our 2010-11 Christmas panto.  This page provides some general information about the auditions and The Courtyard.  

The casting breakdown can be found on a separate document and will be available from w/c 28 June.  If you feel that you would like to be considered for an audition, please send your CV and photograph by noon on 12 July by mail to: Martyn Green, The Courtyard, Edgar Street, Hereford, HR4 9JR

We will be holding auditions in London on 22 and 23 July.  Auditions are by invitation only.

The Courtyard has an excellent reputation for in-house productions, which range from full-scale musicals to Shakespeare, comedy and original pantomimes.  Recent pantomimes include Beauty (2009), Jack & the Beanstalk (2008), Snow White (2007), Dick Whittington (2006), Cinderella (2005), Aladdin (2004), The Little Mermaid (2003) and Sleeping Beauty (2002).

The cast for Aladdin will include six professional actors, four professional dancers and a team of local youngsters who dance and sing.   We pay a company wage of £400 per week, plus £115 per week for subsistence and a one-off payment of £105 for bank holidays.

There will be 70 performances in all, two on most days, including some Sundays, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

The Courtyard is Herefordshire’s major centre for the arts.  It is a 12-year-old building near the centre of Hereford and comprises a 400-seat main house, 150-seat studio, café bar and restaurant, a gallery, workshops, rehearsal spaces and meeting rooms.  

The cathedral city of Hereford is approximately 3 hours from London and is equidistant (approx 50 miles) from Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff.  There are several pretty market towns (Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye, to name but two), black-and-white villages and some stunning countryside.
