Rehearsing for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Our Narnia Chronicles blog series will see members of our Junior Youth Theatre talk about their experiences rehearsing for the production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

First up, Anne, Kayden and Iona share some of their favourite things about the rehearsals.

The cast give their view…

How would you describe your character?

Anne: I play the White Witch who I would say is evil, sly and cruel. She knows what she wants and gets it. She’s stern and shows no emotion.

Kayden: I’m in the ensemble so get to play a few different characters, including one of the White Witch’s evil minions!

Iona: Mr. Tumnus is very kind and shy but he is also scared of the White Witch. He realises humans are really nice and doesn’t want to catch Lucy and take her to the White Witch.

What do you enjoy most about rehearsals?

Anne: I like seeing the younger years smile when we finish a scene.

Kayden: Talking to others with similar interests.

Iona: Being with friends and playing games. Getting to work with different year groups.

What are you most looking forward to about the performance?

Anne: This is my last junior show. I’m looking forward to proving to myself and others that I can be confident and prove to myself that I can be myself.

Kayden: Performing on the stage and meeting people from other groups.

Iona: Costumes and makeup and mainly the fun of it all! Also being with my friends.

The Production

The Courtyard Junior Youth Theatre present a brand-new production of CS Lewis’ timeless tale this Easter.

During a game of hide-and-seek, Lucy ventures into an old wardrobe, only to find that a magical kingdom lies on the other side. As she steps through the wardrobe, she discovers the mystical land of Narnia, where Lions can talk, Fauns make tea, and it is always winter but never Christmas.

Join Lucy and her siblings Edmund, Peter and Susan as they help Aslan, Mr Tumnus and even Father Christmas in a quest to defeat the Evil White Witch. Will the children ever return home through the wardrobe? Or will they be stuck in Narnia, in eternal winter forever? Featuring original music, spectacular costumes, and plenty of Turkish Delight, this family show will entertain audiences of all ages!
