Cultivate@Courtyard 2021 opens for applications

We’re thrilled to be offering an opportunity for three emerging visual artists aged 16–25 with a link to Herefordshire to take part in our latest visual arts project, Cultivate@Courtyard 2021.

“We’re delighted to be opening up applications for Cultivate@Courtyard.” Said Courtyard Associate Director, David Durant “After having to move the 2020 exhibition online, we’re excited to be planning a physical exhibition in our new and improved Courtyard building for Summer 2021. Every year we are so impressed by the quality of work that is submitted so we are really looking forward to, once again, seeing the wonderful young talent that Herefordshire has to offer.”

The chosen artists will be shortlisted by a panel of judges and will then be mentored by professional artist Maria Morgan. They will work towards producing an exhibition at The Courtyard and Old Mayor’s Parlour Gallery in the Summer of 2021 with an opportunity to receive a £1000 grant.

Artists wishing to be considered for this project are invited to submit a technically accomplished and resolved piece of artwork or craft for assessment, along with supporting evidence of exploration and experimentation, in the form of a sketchbook or drawings.

The themes for this year include: ‘Solidarity’, ‘Epidemic’, ‘Isolation’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Tomorrow’.

Applications must be submitted by Wednesday 20 January 2021 and can be emailed to maria@mariamorgan.co.uk or can be dropped off in person at The Courtyard. Artists wishing to drop work off must organise a date and time to do so by emailing David.durant@courtyard.org.uk.
