FORGE: An Insight into Working in the Arts with Open Theatre
Join performers and practitioners for a Masterclass in accessible Arts from Open Theatre.
This workshop will introduce you to a Theatre company dedicated to supporting performers with differences, and answer questions about what it’s like to work in the Performing Arts. With engaging activities and a hosted Q&A with two performers from their current show, The Twisted Tale of Hansel and Gretel, this workshop will be a fantastic opportunity to explore the industry.
Open Theatre has been developing work with Young People with Learning Disabilities (YPWLD) through non-verbal physical theatre for over 30 years (since 1984). They use non-verbal physical theatre to explore young people’s creativity. Open Theatre work with the same young people over months, sometimes years, leading to a positive impact on learning outcomes, capacity to learn, confidence and sense of self, and the roles they can play in the world.
