Introducing Andrea Lavio as Assistant Director for Hopeless Romantics.

Andrea Lavio is an emerging theatre director currently based in London.

He trained as an actor at East 15 Acting School.

After graduating, Andrera merged his passion for performing with his desire to travel around the globe. He took part in several cultural exchange programmes. These offered him first-hand insights into Noh Theatre in Japan, Beijing Opera in China, Balinese Theatre in Indonesia and Meyerhold’s Biomechanics in Russia.

While teaching drama at the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam in India and at Grasam Secondary High School in Kenya, his interest in directing grew. He decided to go back to East 15 Acting School to train as a director.

In 2020, Andrea received a nomination in the directing category for the Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund.

He also co-directed the digital comedy The Internship with Mateus Monteiro, a show inspired by mockumentaries and the film Ghostbuster. It was officially selected at Tramshed’ Digitally Charged Festival as well as Capsule Film Festival.

He is now working again with Mateus Monteiro on the Brazilian comedy In The Heat Of That Night, written by Sérgio Roveri.

Andrea is passionate about comedy and is working more and more on writing and directing his own work. Assisting Nick Lane on Hopeless Romantics  is a fantastic opportunity to explore this. It’s great to be introducing Andrea Lavio as Assistant Director for this brilliant Courtyard Production.

Hopeless Romantics

Hopeless Romantics will be on our Main House stage from Tuesday 20 – Saturday 24 July at 7.30pm. There will also be a Saturday matinee performance at 2.30pm. Audio Description will be available for the matinee show.

After a year away from the theatre it feels good to be back. Hopeless Romantics is the perfect Comedy-Romance to return to with moments that will being a tear to your eye and others that will make you laugh out loud. Don’t miss it this summer at The Courtyard.
