Stage Combat Workshop with ex-Youth Theatre member

Ex-Courtyard Youth Theatre member, Lydia Fitzwilliams is returning to The Courtyard to deliver a Stage Combat workshop this February.

Lydia Fitzwilliams is an actress, fight director and fight teacher. She has worked on multiple projects for stage and screen, including a feature film that recently wrapped filming in Ireland.

When Lydia was in year 9, she decided she wanted to be a stunt woman, and from then on pursued martial arts and acting training. This included being part of The Courtyard Youth Theatre.

In 2019 Lydia got into East 15 drama school with their BA Acting & Stage Combat degree. During this she fell in love with acting, and the intricate art of stage combat. She studied multiple weapons systems, from viking style long swords to Shakespearean rapier and dagger, and of course, lightsabers!

“Stage combat is story telling, and finding ways to make it believable and repeatable.”

Lydia enjoys the process of creating these illusions of violence, and is now giving you the opportunity to learn these methods too! Come and join her for a special Stage Combat Workshop as part of our Family Saturdays programme on Saturday 25 February at 11am. Before the workshop there will be an opportunity to take part in a free pre-activity in the foyer from 10.30am.
