Staying at Home – Whilst living with Dementia

The Courtyard was the first Dementia Friendly Arts Centre in the UK. Now that we are temporarily closed due to the  Coronavirus pandemic, it does not mean that our commitment to those living with dementia has stopped.

We have put together some of the best resources we could find around Staying at Home and staying as creative as possible, whilst living with dementia.

Activities

Rachel Freeman from Everybody Dance, who usually runs our Spectacular Tea Dances for people living with dementia, has recorded a short seated dance session in her garden for you to follow.

BBC Music Memories 

This website is designed to use music to help people with dementia reconnect with their most powerful memories.  BBC Memory Radio is also available on BBC Sounds. Just search for Memory Radio, and on smart devices – say ‘Alexa/Google, ask the BBC for Memory Radio’.

AcTo Dementia 

Independent site that provides guidance on accessible touchscreen apps for people living with dementia. An ideal resource for anyone affected by dementia to find and use apps on a tablet computer for entertainment.
