OUR FUTURE… YOUR COURTYARD

From the end of April to September 2020 we undertook a Capital Expansion Project to Transform The Yard. The project was part-funded by a grant from Arts Council England and supported by Herefordshire Council.

Transform The Yard was an exciting project that set the stage for the future. Transforming our much-loved venue and improving customer experience, increasing accessibility and enabling us to reach even more people with our community work.

What’s changed?

There were significant changes to the building including a more accessible entrance and Box Office, a new space to allow more workshops and meeting hires as well as a retail space for local arts and crafts. We also extended and transformed the Café Bar areas, including creating a beautiful outdoor terrace.

• Outdoor terrace on the first floor alongside an extended Mezzanine

Why did we need to do this?

Being at the heart of our community means using arts, culture and entertainment to improve health, wellbeing and social isolation. Providing access to the arts for all, helping to build relationships and growing talent is the reason we exist. The additional space will enable The Courtyard’s ever increasing learning and participation work to flourish further and we can continue to bring our community together.

How did you help?

Our ambitions have no limits but our resources do and we needed your help! The whole project was estimated at circa £1.5 million and we raised over half of the funding (including £80,000 in individual donations and pledges). We are so helpful to all the donors and supports who helped to ensure that The Courtyard continues to be a place for arts, entertainment, community and friends for generations to come and Transformed The Yard.

Supporters at 2020 Transform Club level, or above, will receive a personalised thank you letter and can have their name/s included on the new donor recognition wall.
