Why The Courtyard is a Charity

As well as being a theatre, exhibition space and cinema did you know that The Courtyard is also a registered charity? We deliver creative arts activities across the county all year round.

Organisations in the arts can go overlooked as people’s charity of choice, so we’re here to explain why we deserve your donations too!

Why support The Courtyard?

The Courtyard’s innovative Education and Outreach programmes are at the heart of our mission to offer quality creative experiences to the whole community. These activities also help to develop and nurte the next generation of artistic talent.

We have festivals for families which include free sessions, and we are constantly working to increase accessibility for those with additional needs. Our work with care homes delivers creative workshops to residents, and we do events at The Courtyard for people with dementia and their carers. We reach thousands of participants each year through our outreach initiatives.

It is a constant task to obtain funding to support our work. Bidding for grants is more competitive than ever, and the economic climate is affecting how much businesses can give; many are generous with their time and support, but we know the pandemic had a major impact on local companies.
